
If you store research or pharmaceutical materials in a temperature-controlled unit, it is imperative that you take action to prevent losses due to equipment malfunctions, power outages, etc. (see Loss Prevention Protocols). A Preventive Maintenance Agreement (PMA) is now required along with an active inventory, continuous monitoring system and identifiable asset or ID tag for all units to be covered by insurance. To help U community members avoid and combat cyberthreats, the University of Utah’s Information Security Office (ISO) will share some IT security best practices and resources this October for Cybersecurity Awareness Month (CAM). CAM is an annual initiative to ensure people have the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online. As the Marriott Library enters year two of its open access agreement, initiated in January 2021, with Cambridge University Press (CUP), the campus has realized $50,000 in cost savings associated with article processing charges (APCs). APCs are publishing fees many open access journals and publishers charge to make a journal article available at no cost to readers on the web.
