The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation have recently launched Phase 1 of the LymeX Diagnostics Prize, a $10 million competition to accelerate the development of Lyme disease diagnostics. Though an estimated 476,000 Americans are diagnosed and treated for Lyme each year, the true number of infections remains unknown. Early diagnosis is critical, but there is currently no FDA-cleared test for active infections — and we need experts across sectors such as vector-borne disease biology, clinical technology and translation, patient experience and advocacy, and diagnostic science and technology to help develop one. Up to 10 Phase 1 winners will receive an equal share of the $1 million Phase 1 prize pool and be exclusively invited to participate in a planned Phase 2. Phase 1 submissions are due by 4:59 p.m. ET on August 8, 2022. Those interested in pursuing collaboration with other interested parties should utilizethe LymeX Diagnostics Prize entrant community to identify opportunities to collaborate with others or add members to your team. You can also register for the June 16 virtual information session to ask questions about the prize competition and receive all competition updates by subscribing to the LymeX Diagnostics Prize newsletter.
