Corporate Sponsored Funding

PIVOT Center works with companies to thoroughly understand their R&D goals and match them to research goals of the appropriate faculty members at the University of Utah. PIVOT’s Corporate Engagement team works across all schools and units to facilitate partnerships and offer expertise on identifying opportunities that include grant funding, sponsored research and creating strategic corporate partnerships. PIVOT also provides guidance to faculty for successful stewardship. Google: Award for Inclusion Research Program
Amount: $60,000
Deadline: July 14, 2021

The AIR Program funds topics including accessibility, AI for social good, algorithmic fairness, education, and gender bias, and many other areas that aim to have a positive impact on underrepresented groups.

ISID/Pfizer: ISID-Pfizer 2021 Grant Challenge
Amount: $100,000
Deadline: June 18, 2021

Proposals should focus on antimicrobial therapy consumption, use patterns, and stewardship efforts in the outpatient setting, in low-income countries or under-resourced settings in middle-income countries. Antimicrobial stewardship programs confined to the clinical healthcare setting are not enough to effectively prevent the development and spread of antimicrobial resistance. Patient use behaviors, spurred by access to antimicrobial therapies in settings outside of traditional hospitals, are a neglected area that will benefit from novel antimicrobial stewardship programs.

Pfizer/Myovant Biosciences: Progress in Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) in Advanced Prostate Cancer
Amount: $250,000

The general Area of Interest and goals of the medical education:

  • Raise awareness of cardiovascular risk in patients with prostate cancer receiving Androgen Deprivation Treatment (ADT)
  • Differentiate the clinical significance of LHRH agonists vs. GnRH antagonists
  • Provide multidisciplinary care teams the latest updates on ADT treatment options
  • Mindfully recognize patient preference and adherence data regarding oral vs. parenteral oncologic therapy

Merck: 2021 Research Grant Program

The Research Grants program is open to scientists in all career stages who are affiliated with any research-based institution, university or company. Applicants submit their application for the focus topics containing non-confidential information only. You may apply for more than one grant or submit your application for more than one focus topic. If your application is successful, you are invited to submit a full proposal under confidentiality and join a deep-dive workshop with the other finalists.

Areas of interest:

  • Drug Discovery - 3 grants comprising 350,000 €/year for 3 years with the option of extension.
  • Real time testing and sensors - grant comprising between 100,000 - 500,000 $/year for 2 years with the option of extension
  • Nanoparticle for nucleic acid delivery - grant comprising between 100,000 - 300,000 $/year for 2 years with the option of extension
  • Digital Innovation - 3 grants comprising 40,000 - 100,000 € for 1 year with the option of extension
  • Bioelectronics - grant comprising 150,000 €/year for 3 years 
  • Sustainability - grant/s to be negotiated on a case by case basis
  • Media recycling for cultured meat - grant/s to be negotiated on a case by case basis
