New this year, the CoA is partnering with the NIA funded Family Caregiving Research Collaborative (K07 AG068185; PI- Dr. Lee Ellington) and the College of Nursing led interdisciplinary Family Caregiving Collaborative. An additional family/family caregiving focused pilot grant application will be awarded. In addition to a focus on caregiving science, this application requires that family members, family caregivers or informal caregivers are included in the project as participants and will continued to be included in seeking extramural funding. Note that the Caregiving Collaborative targeted award is not required to include a focus on aging or older caregivers. This new One U partnership enables us to extend our support for caregiving across the lifespan. Any questions please contact either Dr. Mark Supiano or Heather Podolan.

The "Innovations in Aging Research” pilot grant differs from the "traditional" pilot grant program (described above). Today, there are unprecedented opportunities to advance aging research, and these advances will most likely be driven by new, interprofessional collaborations in team-based approaches. Moreover, the target of this RFP is to reach beyond a single investigator-initiated award by supporting the development of larger, multi-investigator projects based on a thematic area. The goal of this program is to promote collaborations and provide funding support to enhance preliminary/project data that will allow competitive applications for multi-PI extramural funding by the NIH or other agencies and foundations, such as multi-PI R01s and P01s and center grants (P30, P60 and others). We invite applications from all areas of collaborative aging research that will lead to competitive extramural multi-PI grant applications. Any questions please contact either Dr. Mark Supiano or Heather Podolan.
