PIVOT Center works with companies to thoroughly understand their R&D goals and match them to research
goals of the appropriate faculty members at the University of Utah. PIVOT’s Corporate
Engagement team works across all schools and units to facilitate partnerships and
offer expertise on identifying opportunities that include grant funding, sponsored
research and creating strategic corporate partnerships. PIVOT also provides guidance

Pfizer: 2021 Global ANGPTL3 ASPIRE
Amount: $250,000

The intent of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to support basic science, pre-clinical research and clinical research through a competitive grants program that advances medical knowledge of the role of ANGPTL3 in health and disease.
Pediatric Networks for the Human Cell Atlas

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative invites applications for three-year collaborative projects for the generation of healthy, single-cell reference data from pediatric tissue samples for the Human Cell Atlas (HCA).
The Zuckerman STEM Leadership Program: Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholarships
Amount: $ $52,000-$120,000
Deadline: March 31, 2021
The Zuckerman Postdoctoral Scholars Program attracts high-achieving postdoctoral scholars from premier universities in the United States and Canada to do research at one of seven Israeli universities. Once they complete their research, many Zuckerman postdocs are expected to accept faculty positions at top North American universities, weaving a network of academic collaboration and goodwill that will greatly benefit US-Israeli scientific cooperation.
Zuckerman Scholars enjoy unique programming and activities organized especially for them by their host universities and the Zuckerman Institute in Israel, including touring, educational experiences, and social programs. These activities are designed to strengthen the scholars’ knowledge of and connection to Israel, and cultivate an esprit de corps, exchange of ideas, and foster new relationships.
Pfizer: BRAF-Mutant Melanoma: Treatment Selection and Side Effect Management
Amount: $100,000

Projects that will be considered for Pfizer support will focus on:
- Increasing understanding of clinical data to inform treatment selection for patients with BRAF-mutant melanoma
- Increasing understanding of treatment side effects and how they can be managed by providers involved in the care of patients with BRAF-mutant melanoma
Pfizer: Quality Improvement Grants to Support Development of Cardiac Amyloid Centers
Amount: $50,000
Deadline: April 8th, 2021
Projects that will be considered for Pfizer support will focus on supporting the development of cardiac amyloid centers that provide leadership, best practices, support and/or training of HCPs within a multidisciplinary team environment in order to improve the quality of care for patients with ATTRCM.
Pfizer: Closing Knowledge Gaps in Transthyretin Cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM)
Amount: $150,000
Deadline: April 15th, 2021
Projects that will be considered for Pfizer support will focus on improving the care of patients by:
- Educating [HCPs] to increase awareness and enable appropriate patient identification by closing knowledge gaps in disease epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and emerging treatment paradigms.
- Addressing barriers to appropriate diagnosis and strategies that reduce burdens for patients and providers along the pathway to appropriate diagnosis
- Exploring strategies that empower patients to play an active role in understanding TTR amyloidosis and decision making regarding available diagnostic and treatment options
- Increasing awareness of the changing epidemiology of TTR amyloidosis with a focus on the prevalence of hereditary ATTR and wild-type ATTR subtypes as the science continues to evolve
- Increasing awareness of at risk and undiagnosed populations with TTR amyloidosis with a focus on improving strategies that facilitate the appropriate diagnosis of patients early in the disease course before overt cardiomyopathy has ensued [e.g. populations with electrical disturbances, valvular disease, orthopedic
ADDF-Harrington Scholar Program:
Amount: $600,000 over 2 years

The Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) and Harrington Discovery Institute have partnered to form the ADDF-Harrington Scholar program. The program recognizes physicians or scientists across the US, Canada and the United Kingdom, who are doing research to develop drugs to prevent, treat and cure Alzheimer’s disease. The award provides funding and drug development support to help bridge the gap between basic discovery and the clinical realm.
Pfizer: Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship
Amount: $75,000

The intent is to support institutions with fellowship programs for Pediatric Endocrinologists that have a strong focus on clinical practice, research, and education to further the understanding of short stature/growth failure
Pfizer: 2021 Growth Hormone Research
Amount: $100,000
Deadline: June 1st, 2021
Research projects that will be considered for Pfizer support will advance the medical knowledge of short stature. Projects submitted may include:
- Diagnostics, early treatment, new treatment paradigms
- Clinical outcomes, quality of life, and patient reported outcomes
- Medication adherence research
- Translational or clinical research

Amount: $100,000

Projects that will be considered for Pfizer support will focus on:
- Morbidity and mortality in Growth Hormone Excess
- Novel strategies including Quality of Life and Patient Reported Outcomes to evaluate and treat Growth Hormone Excess
- Early diagnosis and treatment of Growth Hormone Excess
- Pathophysiology of Growth Hormone Excess
Pfizer: Transthyretin Cardiac Amyloidosis Fellowship
Amount: $80,000
Deadline: June 15th, 2021
The intent is to support institutions with fellowship programs for Cardiologists that have a strong focus on clinical practice, research, and education to further the understanding of transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis. Grants will be available for both established and emerging Amyloid Centers of Excellence.
Conservation X Labs: Microfiber Innovation Challenge
Amount: $650,000
Deadline: June 25, 2021
Conservation X Labs is searching for innovations in the following categories:
Replace: Replace textiles that are sources of plastic microfibers with alternatives designed for non-toxic biodegradation in natural environments.
Prevent: Develop improved textile manufacturing processes (e.g. weaving, treatments) to decrease microfiber shedding.
Merck KGaA: 2021 Open Innovative Research Grants

In 2021, Merck KGaA are offering a series of research grants to stimulate innovative research in challenging areas of future importance. Grants of 40,000 € - 450,000 € per year for up to 3 years are available in the areas as further specified below:
- Drug Discovery - 3 grants comprising 350,000 €/year for 3 years with the option of extension.
- Real time testing and sensors - grant comprising between 100,000 - 500,000 $/year for 2 years with the option of extension
