Facebook: 2021 RFP on Agent-based User Interaction Simulation to Find and Fix Integrity and Privacy Issues

In this call, we are particularly interested in research work that tackles the scientific and technical challenges we face in developing and deploying Web Enabled Simulation and that could also lead to longer and deeper collaboration between partners from the academic research community and our WW project team. More details, including open research problems and challenges we hope to tackle in partnership with the scientific community, can be found in our keynote position paper at the 25th International Conference on Evaluation and Assessment in Software Engineering (EASE 2021). We believe research in a number of areas may make valuable contributions to the web enabled simulation agenda, including, but not limited to, research on Multi Agent Systems, Search Based Software Engineering, Social Software Testing Verification and Validation, Predictive Systems, Machine Learning, Multi Objective Search, AI Assisted Game Play, Automated Mechanism Design, Co-evolutionary Mechanism Learning, End User Realism, Synthetic Graph Generation, and Game Theory.

Pfizer: Antibiotic Stewardship in Pediatrics/Infectious Disease - Bacteria
Amount: $100,000
Deadline: July 8, 2021

In resource limited settings, antibiotic use in children is common with evidence suggesting both overuse in many settings and underuse in others. Further, differences in usage based on gender and/or class suggest inequities that need to be addressed. Interventions are needed to ensure good stewardship practices are applied to children, one of the most vulnerable populations.

Amazon Advertising helps grow businesses and brands of all sizes. Its scientists apply machine learning, optimization, causal modeling, and game theory at scale to enhance the shopper experience, help advertisers reach relevant audiences, and support brand building.

This mission includes (1) measuring the audience journey and helping brands move the needle on them, (2) achieving synergy among actions to reach the right audience at the right time, (3) leveraging online assets through machine learning, and (4) enabling advertisers.

Pfizer: Identifying and Diagnosing Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA)
Amount: $250,000
Deadline: July 12, 2021

Projects that will be considered for Pfizer support will focus on: Improving the care, management, and outcomes of patients with JIA by increasing HCP knowledge on the following: 1) Disease state education, 2) differential disease diagnosis, 3) referral to pediatric rheumatology clinicians and reinforce co-management among the multidisciplinary health care team, 4) patient management and preparation for the transition from pediatric care to adult care, and 5) approved treatments and guidelines including new MOAs for JIA.

Facebook: 2021 Instagram Request for Proposals on Safety and Community Health

 In 2021, Instagram requests research proposals to help us better understand experiences on Instagram that may or may not contribute to the safety and health of our community. This includes, but is not limited to, research that will help us better understand equity and fairness issues facing our communities, develop better policies, assess possible improvements to protect our younger community, or better understand the mechanisms (e.g., social support, social comparison) through which Instagram usage would directly impact the people that use our service. We especially encourage researchers investigating topics that may affect teen communities or underserved or vulnerable communities to apply.

Facebook: Engineering Approaches to Responsible Neural Interface Design

Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) has been exploring neural and neuromotor data as potential inputs for controlling augmented reality and/or virtual reality systems. In keeping with Facebook’s Responsible Innovation principles, the FRL research teams work to surface and consider neuroethical considerations in tandem with system design. As part of that effort, FRL is pleased to solicit proposals that leverage engineering to address the principles of considering everyone, putting people first by treating data with care, and providing controls that matter by developing tools and methods for data management and privacy.

To foster innovation in this area, and to deepen our collaboration with academia, Facebook is pleased to invite faculty to respond to this call for research proposals pertaining to the aforementioned topics.

This RFA looks to prioritize funding for direct services and efforts that build the capacity of organizations focused within local operating communities. Within each focus area, Union Pacific aim to support programs and organizations working to advance the diversity, equity and inclusion of underrepresented populations within the local context and issue areas addressed.

Pfizer: Patient Preference Database Blueprint: Patient Preference Database Blueprint
Amount: $50,000
Deadline: August 2, 2021

This Innovation Challenge RFP seeks to solicit proposals to develop a blueprint for collating, organizing, and storing publicly available results from multiple patient preference studies such as may be found in publications or study reports in a single database, organizing results by disease, treatment class (JAK inhibitors in multiple diseases), patient type, etc. or any other categorization scheme and propose a method for extracting and synthesizing available data so that the existing quantitative preference estimates can be used as weights in decision-analytic models as an alternative to de novo primary data collection. The preference results in the database can be the result of any stated preference method (e.g., discrete-choice experiment, threshold technique, swing weighting, etc.) that provides quantitative estimates of marginal utility or relative importance of multiple disease and treatment attributes.
