COVID-19 Research Operations Update

As a reminder, onsite research is still restricted to “Limited Research Activities” ONLY to keep our policies in compliance with current CDC guidelines (see the Research Operation Levels table for more information).

Please note additional information for the remainder of spring and the summer semester:

  • Undergraduate Research Policy for Summer 2021 Semester
Beginning Monday, May 10th, onsite undergraduate research will no longer require a college dean’s approval during the 2021 summer semester. However, all other COVID-19 safety restrictions for undergraduate researchers on campus will remain in effect. The full policy can be found
  • Asymptomatic Testing for On-Campus Continues
Weekly asymptomatic testing is still strongly encouraged for all faculty, staff, students, and other personnel conducting research on campus regardless of vaccination status. Please continue to utilize the U’s Asymptomatic COVID-19 Testing Program. As the vaccination program accelerates, asymptomatic testing and contact tracing are critical to quickly identify and minimize further disease transmission.
  • Compliance with Post-Vaccination Guidance for Onsite Research
Mandatory masking and physical distancing in all research settings with two or more personnel will remain in effect regardless of vaccination status. If new updates to CDC guidelines for vaccinated individuals warrant a change in these policies this summer, we will notify the research community through our website and these email updates.

Thank you for your continued support as we strive to provide updated information and guidance on the VPR Website as quickly as possible. We appreciate all of your hard work to keep limited research operations running smoothly and safely during this challenging time.
