Corporate Funding Opportunities

PIVOT Center works with companies to thoroughly understand their R&D goals and match them to research goals of the appropriate faculty members at the University of Utah. PIVOT’s Corporate Engagement team works across all schools and units to facilitate partnerships and offer expertise on identifying opportunities that include grant funding, sponsored research and creating strategic corporate partnerships. PIVOT also provides guidance to faculty for successful stewardship. Pfizer: Advances in Atopic Dermatitis for Dermatologists and Allergists
Amount: Up to $300,000
Deadline: October 28, 2021

 The intent is  to support programs for dermatologists and allergists on new and emerging therapies for AD. Particular areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Help dermatologists and allergists stay current with the new emerging data for advanced therapies under development for AD
  • Provide dermatologists and allergists with an overview of the benefit and risk profile of new and emerging therapies such as JAK inhibitors for AD
  • Improve dermatologists and allergists understanding of the role of vaccination in the care of patients with AD, especially with the use of JAK inhibitors and other immunosuppressive agents

Pfizer: Geriatric Anorexia – Educational Needs Assessment
Amount: up to $300,000
Deadline: October 28, 2021

The intent is to provide an independent grant to an organization or organizations who will conduct a thorough educational needs assessment in geriatric anorexia. Projects with a detailed and timely publication plan will be prioritized, as it is Pfizer’s intent for the results of the needs assessment to be shared with the entire medical community in order to enhance future medical education programs that eliminate barriers and close gaps experienced by HCPs

PepsiCo: Removing Organics from Coconut Water to Improve Flavor
Amount: $100,000 for proof of concept, potential for follow-on funding for 1-3 years
Deadline: November 19, 2021

PepsiCo is seeking technologies and processes to remove organic acids, ketones, and aldehydes to neutralize taste and expand applications of coconut water/juice. On Tuesday, October 26th at 1PM EST, PepsiCo is hosting a webinar for researchers to learn more.

Solutions of interest include:

  • Physical removal – based on molecular weight
  • Chemical removal – with processing aids, absorbent resin beds
  • Neutralization – flavor maskers
  • Other innovative approaches

Amount: $250,000
Deadline: January 7, 2022

The following types of research will be considered in-scope:

  • Basic science, pre-clinical research, and clinical research that aligns with the in-scope research topics
  • Animal experimentation related to human biology
  • Translational studies
