Corporate Funding Opportunities
PIVOT Center works with companies to thoroughly understand their R&D goals and match them to research goals of the appropriate faculty members at the University of Utah. PIVOT’s Corporate Engagement team works across all schools and units to facilitate partnerships and offer expertise on identifying opportunities that include grant funding, sponsored research and creating strategic corporate partnerships. PIVOT also provides guidance to faculty for successful stewardship. Pfizer 2022 Fellowship Grant Program for Inflammatory Dermatological Diseases
Amount: Up to $80,000
Deadline: 1/24/2022
The goal of this RFP is to offer salary support for Dermatology and/or Allergy Fellowship programs. It is our intent to support fellowship programs at institutions with expertise in inflammatory and immune-mediated dermatological disorders and have a strong focus on clinical practice, research, and education to further the understanding of inflammatory skin diseases, such as atopic dermatitis and alopecia areata.
In addition, as the US demographics shift to become more racially diverse, the need to understand skin of color unmet needs will continue to increase. Therefore, programs that prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles in dermatology will also be considered. Grants will be awarded based on the strength of the requesting organization’s ability to provide expert mentorship, training, and guidance to the fellow.

The goal of this RFP is to offer salary support for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) focused Fellowship programs. Through this grant we intend to support clinical training programs in regions where there are continued workforce challenges. Priority will be placed on programs that emphasize mentorship and patient care.
Amazon Science Research Awards: Alexa Fairness in AI – Building AI for Everyone
Amount: $80,000

Alexa AI-Natural Understanding’s (NU) mission is to build and enable engaging, world-class conversational AI capabilities that are broadly accessible. Under this call for proposals, we are seeking to fund research projects on the following topics:
- Transparency, explainability, and accountability in AI systems
- Theories of computational/algorithm fairness and factors that affect algorithmic trustworthiness
- Detecting and ameliorating adverse biases in data and algorithms, and fairness-aware design of algorithms
- Metrics and methods for designing, piloting, and evaluating systems that mitigate against adverse biases and ensure fairness, including the use of human-machine collaboration and decision support
