National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Incentive Faculty Fellowship

The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is the premiere funder for research in the humanities. One of the core programs of NEH is the prestigious NEH Fellowship which provides researchers with 6-12 months of research leave to work on a major scholarly or creative project. NEH Fellowship applications are due every April. This year they are due April 14th, 2021.

The University of Utah also has an incentive program to encourage you to apply for NEH funding. Applications for the NEH incentive faculty fellowship are due June 1st, 2021. If you apply for any NEH funding mechanism between October 1st, 2020 and June 1st, 2021, then you are eligible to potentially win the NEH incentive faculty fellowship. Just forward your confirmation email from grants.gov to Kristina Bailey to be entered to win. Note: This is a great cycle to apply for funding. I know it is challenging to work under these conditions; however, that headwind will hinder everyone. That means the applicant pool will be smaller. If you can get an application in, then your odds of winning are considerably higher than normal.

An NEH program officer will be leading a virtual workshop for on October 23rd at 10 am. Please contact Kristina Bailey to RSVP. Questions regarding the NEH Fellowship Program or the UofU incentive component can also be directed towards Kristina. For help with the submission process, please contact Cindy Brown or Christine Gore.
