COVID-19 Research Continuity Planning for the University of Utah: April 15 – April 24
The Office of the Vice President for Research (VPR) remains operational as we continue to closely monitor the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Here are our most recent research community updates:
- An official announcementwas released on Monday morning regarding the COVID-19 internal seed grant projects.
Congratulations to the seed grant awardees! For the list of projects, please visit
3i’s COVID-19 seed grants page.
- Our campus response to COVID-19 will be stronger with a central repository and communications
across all researchers conducting COVID-related research. Please check to see if your COVID-related research project is already captured at
the COVID-19 research activities page.If it’s not listed, please fill out the VPR COVID-19 web form below to be added to the database and the mailing list for the 3i weekly COVID research newsletter.
- The Office of Research Participant Advocacy has created a webpage for volunteers who are interested in participating in COVID-19 research from home.
- Resources for mentoring undergraduates working remotely are available from UROP.
- As a reminder, all undergraduate studies have been moved to an online platform for
the summer 2020 semester. In partnership with the Office of the Vice President for
Research, a memo was sent outby the Office of Academic Affairs in regards to student research activities on campus.
Consistent with the move to online student services, undergraduate research must also
be conducted remotely. We realize that this maybe a constraint for some mentors that conduct laboratory,
clinical, or field research. However, our student’s safety is our highest priority
and responsibility, and we hope you can accommodate the need for alternative research
training opportunities during these extraordinary circumstances.
Thank you for all of your input as we strive to provide needed information and guidance
on the VPR website as quickly as possible. We appreciate all of your hard work to keep research operations running smoothly as
much as possible during these challenging events.
Sincerely,
Andy Weyrich
Vice President for Research
