Stem Cell Workshop (ANAT 7760) - Available Spring 2020
Advances in stem cell research have created tremendous opportunities across a broad
spectrum of fields. This course provides students with all the necessary knowledge
and technical know-how to start working with human stem cells. The lectures introduce
the fundamentals of stem cell biology, and expose students to ongoing stem cell related
research at the University of Utah. The lab section provides each student with practical,
hands-on techniques required for programming, culturing, and cryo-preserving iPSCs.
Each student will also learn how to differentiate iPSCs into either neurons or beating
cardiomyocytes.
Limited to 15 people | 3 credit hours | Tues. & Thurs., 2:00pm-3:00pm
Course Directors: Alex Shcheglovitov, Ph.D. | Colin Maguire, Ph.D.
Sponsored by the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences (CCTS)
