Announcing BPCnet.org | A resource for NSF Plans

BPCnet.org is a resource portal designed to amplify the NSF CISE Directorate’s efforts in broadening participation in computing (BPC), providing a much-needed clearinghouse for the community to learn about and engage with ongoing projects to diversify computing.  Many CISE proposals now have a BPC Plan requirement, and the portal was created to ease the transition for the community to develop high-impact BPC plans.

The portal can be used by CISE PIs, academic leaders, and faculty in two main ways:

  • Learn about partnering opportunities with established BPC activities that address the PI’s interests and specific needs of their institution, benefitting from best practices that have been honed by the experience of the partners.
  • Develop a departmental BPC Plan to aid faculty in tailoring their plans to available programs at their institution. Such a tailored plan also permits individual faculty to contribute to a shared strategic vision for broadening participation in computing at their institution and in their local community.

If you have questions on either BPCnet.org or how to develop a departmental BPC Plan that meets the goals of the whitepaper below, contact Prof. Mary Hall in School of Computing mhall@cs.utah.edu, who is involved in both efforts.
