Nestled in Research Park on the south side of campus, the School of Dentistry offers an innovative curriculum with unparalleled views of the Salt Lake Valley. With a focus on research, instruction, and patient care, the school serves both the patient community and the future leaders of dental health.

The School of Dentistry currently has four primary areas of research:

  • Substance use disorder and drugs of addiction
  • Orofacial developmental biology
  • Saliva and salivary gland research
  • Dental public health and global health

In the coming years, the school will invest additional resources into research related to:

  • Clinical care outcomes, including oral and general health improvement in integrated health care delivery settings
  • Enhanced educational value and effectiveness, in particular when integrated across health care disciplines

The research capabilities at the School of Dentistry are more advanced than the school’s young age would indicate. Since its inception, the School of Dentistry has received more than $7M in grant funding, ranging from the basic sciences to behavioral health. This includes funding from NIH, HRSA, and the State of Utah to conduct innovative research in a number of areas.  For more information, please visit the School of Dentistry website.
