Introducing the National Laboratory and Security Office (NLSO)

Announcements
To facilitate increased collaboration with National Laboratories and agencies in the national intelligence program, the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) has launched the National Laboratory and Security Office (NLSO).

The NLSO oversees relationships between the university and agencies dedicated to energy and security.

The NLSO works with Labs & Agencies to:
  • Develop Contracts, MOUs, and Agreements
  • Establish Research Connections
  • Support Researcher and Student Placement
  • Align the University with National Strategy
The NLSO is led by Dr. Marian Rice. Researchers working with or interested in working with National Labs should reach out to Dr. Rice. A website for the new office can be found here: National Laboratory and Security Office - The University of Utah. A flyer for the new office can be found here: NLSO Multipage Flyer

Additionally, the NLSO is interested in understanding the level of collaborations between the National Laboratories and the University - especially in what actions are needed to build on collaborations moving forward. We ask that you please complete this brief survey (5-7 minutes) to share information on collaborations. Please note that the results of this survey will remain within the NLSO team. We understand that relationship management with National Laboratories is often a careful practice. If you would not like to submit this information by survey, you are also welcome to email Dr. Marian Rice directly.
