For 175 years, research at the University of Utah has been solving problems that matter—improving lives in Utah and far beyond. That legacy isn’t just one of breakthrough discoveries; it’s a reflection of how we’ve always worked: collaboratively, purposefully, and with impact in mind.
Last week, we had the privilege of hosting the UIDP Spring 2025 conference, where research universities, government agencies, and industry leaders from across the country gathered here in Salt Lake City. What I heard again and again—from national partners and peers—is that Utah is being noticed. Our model of partnership, our faculty’s innovation, and our growing reputation for collaboration are putting us on the map in ways that matter.
“The Office of the Vice President for Research exists to find science-based technology and human solutions for real-world problems. We collaborate across departments and with Utah leaders, so the citizens of Utah and the citizens of the world can live better lives.”
That mission—grounded in service, science, and collaboration—drives everything we do. Whether it’s managing funding, building infrastructure, or helping teams forge new partnerships, we’re here to support researchers and strengthen the U’s impact.
We’re proud of our history, but we’re even more energized by what’s next. And as we continue to build Utah’s research future, we want you to know: we’re listening, we’re learning, and we’re here to serve.
