The Vice President’s Clinical and Translational (VPCAT) Research Scholars Program invites you to the first in a new series of lectures on academic mentorship.

The Carrie L. Byington, MD VPCAT Distinguished Lecture Series on Mentorship brings the finest and most diversified guest speakers to the University of Utah to provide our academic community with National perspectives on academic mentorship from those who have demonstrated a passion for, and notable achievements in, scientific and career mentoring of trainees and faculty. Our first lecture of the year will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 4:00-5:00 PM in the EHSEB Alumni Hall, and will be presented by Dr. Urmimala Sarkar.

Dr. Sarkar is a Professor of Medicine at UCSF in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Associate Director of the UCSF Action Research Center for Health Equity (formerly known as the Center for Vulnerable Populations). She is a general internist practicing at Richard Fine People’s Clinic, located within the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center in San Francisco, CA. Dr. Sarkar is an expert in digital health equity, patient safety, and learning health systems research, focusing on outpatient care for marginalized populations. Her presentation,  , is sure to inspire.
