The Marriott Library’s Research Data Librarians, Madison Golden and Kaylee Alexander, have launched a new service for researchers on campus aimed at assisting researchers in generating READMEs to be shared alongside research data. As current legislation regarding research data sharing comes into effect, more and more publishers along with funding agencies are requiring research data to be shared.
READMEs are essential documentation to ensure that shared data will be understood and reused correctly. Interested researchers may fill out our intake form at any time, which asks for all necessary information to generate a thorough README document. Once we receive the survey response, we will format a .txt file with your information and send it to the researcher for approval. At the conclusion of this process, researchers will be able to upload their README along with their dataset and any other materials to the repository of their choice.
The goal of this service is to assist researchers across the University of Utah campus to make the data sharing and management process as simple and straight forward as possible, and our data librarians look forward to supporting you!
