We are pleased to announce Michael Litchman, J.D., as the Research Security Officer.
In close coordination with the Officer of Research Information Systems, Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, Information Security Office, Office of Sponsored Projects, Office of General Counsel, and other critical University stake holders, Michael will play a pivotal role at the University of Utah, ensuring compliance with National Security Presidential Memorandum 33 (NSPM-33), International Traffic in Arms / Export Administration Regulations, and the safeguarding of federally funded research, supporting both open and protected research efforts.
Michael will provide visionary leadership, expertise, and execution guidance to ensure the integrity and security of the university’s research data and activities, in alignment with federal, state, and other regulations and contractual requirements. Michael will also collaborate and interact with faculty, staff, and students to implement policies and procedures to address and manage the risks of potential undue foreign influence associated with the University’s ongoing commitment to advancing responsible research and discovery.
Michael comes to us from the Office of Sponsored Projects where he has worked the past 12 years, most recently as the Associate Director of Federal Contract Compliance.
