As a recognized leader, the Center for Technology & Venture Commercialization (TVC) drives value from an invention’s discovery to its transformation into practical use. The TVC office supports innovative research through a comprehensive suite of services. In addition, TVC catalyzes ecosystem stakeholders to promote investment and company-building from University innovations.
Since 1965, TVC has established a global reputation for leadership in technology commercialization. On behalf of University of Utah, TVC serves as a catalyst for the regional ecosystem, responsible for all aspects of invention management, patent prosecution, licensing, startup formation and support, equity management and early stage funding. The University of Utah has launched over 230 companies from technologies developed by faculty and students.
TVC offers the Startup 360 program to assist startup companies with the expertise of entrepreneurs, investors, services and relationships. TVC also offers seed funding to University of Utah inventors to fill a funding gap in the commercialization process between invention disclosure and the license of technology.
