ABOUT

Kami began working at the University of Utah as a clinical coordinator in January 2001. Since that time she has worked in clinics, departments, the SOM Dean’s Office, and the Office of Sponsored Projects. She has 10 years of experience working on grant & contract preparation and management, including 3 years proving pre-award support at the department level. In February 2015, Kami started the SVPHS Pre-Award Office to provide pre-award services to the Basic Science departments within the School of Medicine. The office was the first of its kind at the University of Utah to centralize pre-award support across multiple departments. The SVPHS Pre-Award Office was a success and currently the office provides support to 6 departments within the SOM, and as of summer 2020 has assisted 114 faculty with the preparation and submission of 656 proposals. Her goal is to grow that success with a main campus office that will provide centralized pre-award support to multiple departments on campus.

ABOUT

Stephanie began working at the University of Utah in March 2008 but her journey did not start there.  Her priority, after starting her family, was to her kids and finding employment that worked around a very hectic life with good health benefits. Along this journey she made amazing life time friends, learned new and exciting job skills that set her sights to a brighter future in the work industry and took free classes to better her abilities in her current and possible future job roles. Stephanie’s “forever” job, as she states, started right here at the University of Utah. She started working for OCM, and was promoted to lead administrative assistant. In 2017 she began working for the Neurosurgery-Physiology Department; a job she says “changed her life”. By taking classes and shadowing co-workers, she was able to expand her skills and began learning more about research administration at the University of Utah. Stephanie is thrilled to be a part of the pre-award team, as a Grant & Contract Officer, in the Vice President for Research (VPR) Office. Her goal is to help grow the department that will provide pre-award support to multiple departments here on campus and to continue on with her own education.
