Leading Data Science & Ethics of Technology Research on a Global Level
The Data Science & Ethics of Technology (DATASET) Initiative is designed to engage foundational questions about the role of data in science and society. DATASET aims to bring together research and expertise in the theoretical, technical, ethical and policy/legal dimensions of data across the U to critically examine the function and impact of data, data infrastructure, data science in addressing grand challenges science and engineering, and contributing to data-driven decision-making that impacts society. DATASET will better align the U with strategic priorities locally and nationally, including those of including those of the Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships Directorate of the National Science Foundation, the Digital Humanities portfolio of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the VAULTIS goals of the Department of Defense.
DATASET is a partner initiative with the Data Exploration and Learning for Precision Health Intelligence (DELPHI) initative. Together, these initiatives form the One Utah Data Science Hub - a unique and interdisciplinary effort designed to enhance research and infrastructure in data science at the University of Utah.
