The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) has called for more research on “diseases of isolation” such as suicide, depression, alcoholism, and addiction. Funders are calling for research to help engage the negative impacts of isolation.

In coordination with the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Suicide Research Working Group, and the Applied Medical & Engineering (AME) Lab are excited to host a 90-minute “Diseases of Isolation” event to identify related and existing areas of strength on campus, hear lightning talks from active researchers in this space, and discuss emerging research opportunity in this area. The goal of this event is to help mobilize potential research teams on these topics.
