Executive Administration

Animal welfare:

  • Appoints members of IACUC
  • The Vice President for Research is responsible for matters of policy regarding animal welfare and operation of IACUC
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding animal welfare

Biosafety/Recombinant and Synthetic DNA Molecules:

  • The Vice President for Administrative Services is responsible for matters of policy regarding biosafety and for all matters concerning use of recombinant DNA in research and operations of the IBC
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding biosafety and use of recombinant DNA

Conflict of interest:

  • Appoints members of the Conflict of Interest committee
  • Reviews appeals of determinations made by the Designated Official or the Conflict of Interest Committee
  • Coordinates investigation of any violatioN
  • Determines resolution of and penalties for violations
  • The Vice President for Research is responsible for matters of policy regarding conflict of interest and operation of the Conflict of Interest Committee
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding conflict of interest

Data and safety monitoring:

  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding the safety and welfare of human subjects

Education and training:

  • Promotes education and training in University compliance efforts and programs

Environmental health and safety:

  • The Vice President for Administrative Services is responsible for matters of policy regarding environmental health and safety, and operation of the Department of Environmental Health and Safety
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations environmental health and safety

Financial management of research:

  • Oversees policy formulation in the following areas:
    • Matters relating to direct and indirect charging on sponsored projects
    • Effort reporting on sponsored projects
    • Cost sharing
    • Re-budgeting on sponsored projects
    • Recording and disposing of program income
    • Cost transfers
    • Record retention
  • The Vice President for Administrative Services is responsible for matters of policy regarding financial services and operation of the departments of Governmental Accounting and Research Accounting
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding financial management of research

Human gene transfer:

  • The Vice President for Research is responsible for matters of policy regarding human gene transfer in research
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding human gene transfer

Human subjects:

  • The Vice President for Research is responsible for matters of policy regarding protection of human subjects and operation of the IRB
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding the safety and welfare of human subjects

Human tissue samples:

  • The Vice President for Research is responsible for matters of policy regarding collection, storage and re-use of human tissue samples in research
  • Promotes compliance with the UU policy on human tissue samples

Patents and inventions:

  • The Vice President for Research is responsible for matters of policy regarding technology transfer and operation of the Technology Transfer Office
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding technology transfer

Radiation safety:

  • The President of the University appoints the members of the Radiation Safety Committee
  • The Vice President for Research is responsible for matters of policy regarding radiological health and the operation of the Department of Radiological Health
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding radiation safety

Sponsored projects administration:

  • The Vice President for Research is responsible for matters of policy regarding sponsored projects administration and operation of OSP
  • Promotes compliance with federal, state, sponsor and UU regulations regarding administration of sponsored projects
